Three men arrested after three burglaries in East Kent this morning

Three men are in custody this morning on suspicion of burglary after being stopped and arrested at 6am by Kent Police officers on the M2.
Officers followed a black BMW X3 up the motorway London-bound after a member of the public called at 5.30am and gave a description of a car and its distinctive number plate.
He had watched the vehicle drive off from his bedroom window and heard alarms sounding at the Spar supermarket in Tankerton Road in Tankerton.
It appears the burglars used an implement to get into the property and then targetted the cigarette stock.
That incident came after two other burglaries earlier this morning that are believed to have been committed by the same group, one at the Somerfield supermarket in Station Road in Birchington at just gone 5am where the store was broken into and cigarettes taken. The second was at the independent garage at Brooks End. The kiosk was burgled a short time afterwards.
Detectives and crime scene investigators are now at all three locations to gather evidence, take witness statements and retrieve CCTV footage. It is still being determined what was taken and what damage has been caused.
Traffic officers were alerted to the vehicle at 5.40am and a rolling road block was in place on the London-bound carriageway as officers monitored the car's movements.
Two stinger devices were put across the four lanes of the motorway at junction 3 of the M2. The BMW drove over it and it destroyed all four of its tyres. The car continued on to junction 2 where police cars deployed a tactical manoeuvre to stop the vehicle.
One officer went to hospital for an injury caused by broken glass, sustained during the arrest, but she is fine and back out on duty this morning. No one else was hurt. Two police cars received superficial damage during the stop.
A 15-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man from the Rainham area of Essex and a 23-year-old man from the Romford area of Essex are currently in custody at Medway. They will be questioned at Margate Police Station later today.
The BMW X3 has been reported stolen following a burglary in Essex.
