Whitstable care home staff charged
Two staff members from a Whitstable residential care home are due to appear before magistrates in Canterbury on 19 March 2008 charged with criminal neglect.
Police investigated after a 19-year-old man living at the Five Ways home in Kingsdown Park had to be taken to the QEQM Hospital and then spent two weeks in the specialist burns unit at the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead after he was scalded in a bath at the home on 11 November 2007.
Ebenezer Adebisi (27) of Forest Road, Walthamstow, and Sharon Johnson (45) of Charnwood Street, London, have been charged under Section 44 of the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
Trees down across the Canterbury area
Police have received a number of calls this morning (10 March 2008) about trees down or threatening to fall in the high winds that have hit Kent.
Since 7.30am callers have reported tree damage at the top of St Stephen’s Hill, Canterbury; Stone Street at Petham; Broadway, Waltham; Broad Oak Road, Canterbury; Bigbury Road, Harbledown; Island Road, Upstreet; Bridge Road, Bridge; Westgate Court Avenue, Canterbury and Grove Road, Grove.
Debris falling from a property in Watling Street, Canterbury, has also been reported.
Man in court for police assault
Andrejs Jackovlev (24) is due to appear before magistrates in Canterbury today (10 March 2008) charged with assaulting a police officer in the custody area of Canterbury police station after he was arrested for being drunk and disorderly in the city’s St George’s Place on Saturday night (8 March 2008). The officer received an eye injury after he was headbutted.
Beggar breaches anti-social behaviour order
James Ronald Love (23) of Spring Lane, Canterbury, appeared before magistrates in Canterbury on Friday (7 March 2008) after he was arrested for begging in the Longport car park. By begging and being in the car park he was breaching an anti-social behaviour order imposed by Canterbury magistrates on 25 July 2007.
Drivers in court
Marc Yeatman (27) of Tower Parade, Whitstable, has been charged with driving whilst disqualified and is due to appear before magistrates in Canterbury on 28 March 2008 after he was stopped by police in William Street, Herne Bay, on Sunday afternoon (9 March 2008).
Peter McVicar (20) of Castle Road, Whitstable, is due to appear before magistrates in Canterbury on 26 March 2008 charged with driving with excess alcohol after he was stopped by police in St Peter’s Place, Canterbury, early on Saturday morning (8 March 2008).
Three in court for drunkeness
Amanda Baker (44) of Valley Road, Canterbury, has been charged with being drunk and disorderly and assaulting an officer after police were called to a disturbance at flats in Valley Road on Friday evening (7 March 2008). She is due to appear before magistrates in Canterbury on 26 March 2008.
Martin George (37) of no fixed address is also due to appear in court on 26 March 2008 charged with being drunk and disorderly in Dane John Gardens, Canterbury, on Friday afternoon (7 March 2008) and assaulting a police officer as he was being arrested.
Jason Murphy (29) of Station Road East, Canterbury, will appear in court on 20 March 2008 charged with being drunk in the city’s High Street on Saturday morning (8 March 2008).
Motorcyclist injured in Whitstable collision
A woman motorcyclist was injured after a collision with a car in Chestfield Road, Whitstable, just after midday on Saturday (8 March 2008).She was taken to the QEQM Hospital with an injured ankle.
